Doctors, Nurses, Paramedics and Health Professionals urgently needed for refugee medical support across Europe!
Are you a qualified health professional? Could you offer some time to help those desperately in need?
Then why not spend a rewarding week (or two) working with our Humanitas doctors to provide urgent medical care on the ground for refugees who need our support?
Humanitas charity continues to dedicate our resources to supporting the victims of the Syrian refugee crisis. Our medical teams are on the ground, toiling daily, volunteering throughout this crisis, providing urgently needed healthcare assistance to homeless men, women, and children.
Your help could change the lives of hundreds of refugees, as well as your own. Please take a second to read the testimonial below:
“I'm an Emergency Department nurse working in the North of England and have aspired to getting into Humanitarian work for several years. I completed a diploma in tropical nursing 4 years ago and applied to work with a well known NGO. They didn't want me as I didn't speak French. This turned out to be my gain 3 years later when I met Humanitas in Lesvos in December 2015”
“I had tried to get involved in projects in the preceding years but never quite got there. After sitting at my kitchen table late October last year and reading with tears in my eyes about the refugee crisis I booked a flight to Lesvos. I had no idea what I was going to do. What I did know was that had my 3 nephews been faced with the horror of leaving their home and their Mum I would have wanted someone to meet them with warmth, a smile and to make them feel safe. I met Sarah and Ramiz in Lesvos and was instantly impressed by the way they worked. At the time there was talk of me working with them at a later date, this came to fruition May 2016. This was after I had vowed to spend my leave week this time relaxing. Instead I spend it in a camper van with Ramiz treating refugees who had a profound effect on me. I hope to do more work with Humanitas both in the UK and abroad and am proud to have become part of this amazing family.”
Treatment and Training - Surgical teams needed
Our volunteer team of surgeons, physiotherapists, and other medical experts from the UK, USA and Europe treat children in developing countries who are in urgent need of medical care.
We diagnose, treat and, on certain occasions, operate on abandoned or institutionalised children who have been deprived access to professional medical attention.
Without our intervention, these children would never receive the life changing medical assistance required to survive and live their lives.
By joining us you will work closely with local doctors, enabling them to gain from your expertise and more progressive medical methods.
It’s a super opportunity for practitioners to benefit first-hand from your experience. This helps to embed positive change and ensures best practice is carried forward into the future.

Qualified Physiotherapist opportunity
If you’ve qualified as a physiotherapist and have experience in your field, then we’d love to hear from you.
Our Safe Homes in Romania are a sanctuary for orphaned and abandoned children with disabilities and special needs. For so many children the physiotherapy provided by us has helped them to reach their full potential, both physically and mentally.
By joining us on a volunteer placement, you’ll work side by side with our in-house physio, sharing your knowledge and expertise whilst delivering life changing care.
Youth Ambassador Programme
Our Youth Ambassador Programme was created to introduce young people to International Development and help them realise the power they have to make changes to their world.
It is designed to be flexible enough to meet the time pressures of young people but has enough content for a young person to get to grips with the sector.
We understand the pressures young people face when studying for exams, applying to Universities, and finding employment so we are always keen to ensure we work together with them to tailor the programme around availability.
There are many exciting ways for you to be involved.
