We believe it is incredibly important for children here in the UK to learn more about children their age in developing countries and the difference in the lives they lead.
A school partnership is a great way to enrich your students’ understanding of the various cultures and education systems around the world.
By becoming a partner of our work, whether for one term or the whole academic year, you and your pupils have the chance to fundraise for a partner project and they will be able to share letters, pictures, and photos with like-minded students from different backgrounds.
Education Matters Partnership
The Education Matters programme is our most popular way for teachers and pupils to become engaged and excited by the work we do.
This free programme has been designed ‘by teachers, for teachers’, and encourages a personal connection with young learners, who will work through a number of lessons that have been created to ensure maximum participation from the students.
Through our education portal you will be able to download all the resources you need to make the programme succeed in your school and our staff will be available to guide you through the lesson plans or assembly presentations.
Plus, once a year we will arrange for a representative of the charity to come to your school and conduct an assembly, talk, or workshop with your students.
The programme is designed to be flexible, so each school can make it their own, and ensure that it fits around their curriculum. Whilst the programme is free we ask that all schools commit to fundraising for Humanitas to help us cover the costs involved.
Pen Pal Scheme
Through our pen pal scheme your students will be able to send and receive letters from our students at a school in Ghana. A great way to share stories with friendly students from abroad!
There are so many ways to fundraise with Humanitas, from Cake Sales to Fetes. Whatever you decide, we’re on hand to help you all the way!
Lessons outlines offer full flexibility to your school and have been designed by teachers to meet National Curriculum standards.
Annual school events
Humanitas has been working with schools for many years to help educate young people on the effects of poverty, institutionalisation, and global crises. We regularly hold events involving schools to help spread the message about the important work we do.
Every year the theme of our Refugee Week changes to reflect the biggest issues affecting refugees at the time.
We’re really excited about next year’s event. In 2017 we’ll be running The Big Sleep Out! Whether you get your whole school involved or just one year group, we are asking schools across the country to spend a night outside in tents, and with limited supplies to get you through the night! Make it through and you’ll be part of our national and local press coverage and we’ll also ensure your school is recognised in our publications throughout this time.
Join in and help spread the word about the plight of refugees across the globe!
Prep those tents and sign up today!
If you sign up by January your school will feature in publications for Refugee week.
