Marathon des Sables 2019

Date: TBC
Entry: £3950 – including flights
Min sponsorship: £3000

The Marathon des Sables is the stuff of legends. It is the Toughest Footrace on Earth.

We’re not kidding. You take this on, you go down as a Humanitas LEGEND.

That’s because MdS is a gruelling multi-stage adventure through a mythical landscape in one of the world’s most inhospitable environments – the Sahara desert.

In just six days you will run over 250km (156 miles) through endless dunes, over rocky jebels, and across white-hot salt plains. The sun will be your constant enemy with temperatures regularly reaching 50 centigrade. The sand will be your constant companion, clouds of it under your feet, sheets of it stinging your eyes and lots of it chafing where it shouldn’t!

The Long Stage has become a legend in itself. You will run out on a Saharan morning, though the day, on into dusk, and then into the dark, with many runners not finishing the 80+km (52 miles) until well into the next day.

Your feet will swell, crack, and bleed under the pressure and the heat. But none of that will matter when you cross the finishing line - a Humanitas Hero.

Surviving is no easy business out there in the wilderness.

  • 1.5 - 2km course for 8-10 y/o

  • 2.5 - 3km course for 11-13 y/o
